WEB DESIGNING & SCRIPTING

Course Explanation

Designing a website involves a lot more than few HTML pages in today's e-commerce world. This course will prepare students to create professional web pages (interfaces) using several technologies step by step such as HTML, Photoshop, Dream weaver, Flash, Animation, CSS and JavaScript that integrate together to make a website design. With practical base training and assignment and practice work students should be able to design websites.

 Duration: 6 Months

Course Contents (26 sessions of 2 hrs each) and 24 sessions of 1 hr/week Computer Lab

Day 1&2

Introduction to Web - Basics of HTML 4.01, Web document structure, Internet, Protocols, What’s a good domain name for you or your business, how to publish and host you web site

Tables (cell merging, nested tables)

Form (text field, password field, text area, radio buttons, checkbox, file, select menu, buttons)

• Retouching and image size

• Creating a quick mask,
• Saving a selection as a mask, applying an adjustment,

Image Retouching and Repairing
• Clone Stamp tool, Pattern Stamp tool, Healing Brush and Patch tools, Retouching on a separate layer

Painting and Editing
• Custom workspace,
• Blending an image with the background, history tools,
• Brush tool, create a picture frame, Color Section

Basic Pen Tool Techniques
• Pen tool, Drawing straight paths,
• Drawing curved, Editing anchor points

Vector Masks, Paths, and Shapes
• About bitmap images and vector graphics

Advanced Layer Techniques
• Creating layer sets, adjustment layer, gradient layer, layer from another file,
• Liquefying a layer,
• Creating a border layer,
• Flattening a layered image,
• Duplicating and clipping a layer

Creating Special Effects
• Changing the color balance
• Applying filters

Day 17

Preparing Images for Two-Color Printing
• Printing in color, Using channels and the Channels palette, change color to grayscale,
• Creating two-color Web graphics

Arranging Layer Objects in Image Ready
• Duplicating and aligning layers,
• Changing multiple lines of type

Day 18

Creating Links within an Image
• Slicing an image in Photoshop,
• Working with slices in Image Ready,
• Working with image maps (Image Ready)

Optimizing Web Images
• Optimizing images using Photoshop or Image Ready
• Optimizing a JPEG, GIF,
• Controlling dither and reducing colors, dithered transparency

Producing and Printing Consistent Color
• Reproducing colors,
• Specifying color management settings,
• Proofing an image

Day 19&20

Flash Authoring Tool
• Working with Flash Documents, Template, Document Properties, Rulers, Grids, and Guides, Snapping,
• Magnifications, Panels, Property Inspector

Creating Simple Graphics
• Tools, Creating Solid Colors and Gradients, Color Swatches, Color Sets, Fill Attributes,
• Setting Stroke Attributes, Geometric Shapes, Freeform Shapes, Strokes and Fills

Working with Text
• Text Tool, Paragraph Attributes

Modifying Simple Graphics
• Setting Selection Preferences, Clipboard, Graphic Elements, Flipping, Rotating, and Skewing
• Resizing, Positioning Graphic Elements, Modifying Fills and Strokes,

Complex Graphics on a Single Layer
• Controlling Stacking Order, Aligning Elements, Combining Drawing-Objects

Graphics on Multiple Layers
• Timeline's Layer Features, Layers and Folders, Layer Visibility in the Timeline,
• Organizing Layers in Folders, Cutting and Pasting Between Layers, Guide Layers, Mask Layers
